Welcome to St Nicolas C of E Primary School

We are a tribe of explorers, adventurers, voyagers and pioneers, sailing the ocean of opportunity. We are a school ‘where learning becomes an adventure and talents lead the way.’

Every day, we want children to skip, scoot and skate into school, full of enthusiasm and confidence; ready for the adventure ahead. They embody our Trust vision of ‘Bring It!’

Our Curriculum is aspirational and is adapted to St Nicolas School’s unique coastal location. We use the outdoors to create venturesome learning opportunities. Children leave us with a bucket full of memories and friendships.

As a Church of England School, we support its vision for education which is deeply Christian, with Jesus’ promise of ‘life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10) at its heart.

Safeguarding pupils is our first priority. All our employees and volunteers are vetted and trained to ensure our children are kept safe. Adults and pupils are vigilant and know how to report and record any concerns they may have to senior leaders responsible for safeguarding.

If you are; a parent looking for a school for your child, a teacher looking for a class to teach or a school seeking partnerships with others, we would love to hear from you. Here are our contact details.

Gold Water Smart School Award 2026

We’re very proud to share that we have been awarded the RLSS UK Water Smart Schools Gold Award! This national award recognises our commitment to helping children understand how to enjoy water safely and confidently. Our pupils have taken part in a wide range of learning opportunities, including:
  • Water safety lessons across the curriculum
  • Visits and workshops with external organisations
  • Learning about rivers, canals and local waterways
  • Assemblies and awareness activities promoting safe choices around water
  • Opportunities to develop life skills that help keep themselves and others safe
Given our location, we feel it’s especially important for our children to understand the importance of safety near the water. A huge well done to all of our pupils and staff for embracing this important learning. The school’s work helps children develop the knowledge and confidence to stay safe around water as we acknowledge this an essential life skill and we’re incredibly proud that our work has been recognised with Gold Award status.

Our ‘Bring It!’ vision requires us to ensure our pupils are excited by and fully engaged in their learning and school experience more widely. Inspired by The Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14–30) we support pupils to use their talents to create positive school memories with their friends that will remain with them for the rest of their lives.
